Book Launch + Yoga Class by Katie Manitsas

ABOUT THE EVENT

In this free event author Katie Manitsas will lead a 1 hour gentle guided yoga asana class (please wear yoga clothing) suitable for all levels which will include meditation and relaxation.  After the class Katie will read a short excerpt from the book and answer any questions from participants.

 

Copies will be available for purchase and signing at the end of the event. 

 

 

ABOUT THE BOOK

'MINDFUL LIVING, Everyday practices for a sacred and happy life' is published by Rockpool in February 2019. 

 

This book is about the application of 'sadhana' in our lives.  Sadhana means ‘conscious spiritual practice’, and it really has little to do with what you’re doing on the outside and everything to do with what is going on inside. For example drinking a cup of tea is a sadhana if it is done with gratitude and elegance; such as we see in the exquisite Japanese tea ceremonies.  Sadhana can be applied to anything you do that is uplifting and elevates you beyond the mundane or selfish. Sadhana is always anchored in ahimsa (non-violence, or kindness), because for a practice to be spiritual – filled with spirit – it must not harm another. Sadhana means to act, to do something, to be in the world yet deeply connected to your spirit.

 

In this book, Katie focus is on yoga practices and philosophy as well as activism, and the rhythm of the seasons according to ayurveda. Katie will encourage you to engage in simple that awaken magic and mystery. 'Mindful Living' is a tool for growth and transformation, where we come to expect the unexpected and intuition starts to arise in our lives.  

Katie Manitsas is an advanced level Jivamukti Yoga Teacher and a Wise Earth Ayurveda master teacher.  She is also qualified in Kundalini Yoga and as a doula (childbirth support person) and holds the highest possible accreditations with both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia.  She has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. Katie’s passion is in yogic philosophy and the seasonal practices of sadhana – bringing devotion and a sense of the sacred to everyday life, as well as compassion for animals and a deep reverence for nature.  Katie is a published author of several books including ‘The Yoga of Birth’.  She is the mother of four young boys and lives with them in Sydney’s Inner West.
