Yoga is a gift to writers and all creatives because it opens us to the many subtle layers of our internal experience, making more of ourselves available to our art.

Writing – like many inspired pursuits – is internal. We express our ideas in the outside world, but it all starts inside, and yoga offers gentle and deliberate training for exploring our internal world.

In this workshop we will play and experiment with writing and yoga practices you can use every day to keep your creativity flowing. We’ll explore:

  • Breathing and journaling,

  • Meditation and freewriting, plus

  • Asana and embodied writing.

You don’t need any previous training in yoga or writing. Beginners will discover the right place to start. Experienced yogis and writers will find new potential in their practices.

You will leave with a tool-kit to help renovate your creative imagination including:

  • Techniques to move you passed blocks;

  • Practices to tune into your creativity; and

  • A plan to get your project moving – today!

Instead of spending another afternoon with a blank page or empty screen, struggling to get your true thoughts and feelings down, come and spend it with Wendy Guest and other aspiring creatives for a fresh look at your inner genius.

A published author, trained in hatha yoga, yin yoga and in meditation, Wendy has a Masters of Creative Writing from the University of Sydney and a passion for exploring yoga’s potential to nurture creativity. Her master’s thesis, the Yoga of Writing, reveals surprising links between literature and yoga and examines the history of journaling, freewriting and embodied writing. Wendy began her career as a journalist and worked as a professional writer in media, public relations, politics and online education in both Australia and the United States. Her workshops harness breath and body, movement and meditation to help you reimagine your creative potential.
